The relicario depicts images of the Virgin Mary and Child Jesus, painted on both sides. The first image is that of the Virgen de Copacabana, Bolivia. This is truly a treasure of Andean devotional art! Condition is very good, given the age of relicario itself. Size: the relicario is 4 3/4 inches high by 2 3/4 inches wide. CK-10: Mexican vintage sterling silver jewelry, and Purepecha (called Tarascans by Spanish conquerers) ceremonial sterling silver jewelry, a Purepecha necklace with silver and red glass beads, Michoacan, c. 1950.
The silverwork is excellent and the base of the necklace displays dangling silver fish, in the style of the Lake Patzcuaro region of Michoacan. In olden times, the red beads would be of coral. Eventually the coral became too expensive and the red glass beads were used instead in the ceremonial jewelry of the Purepecha. Condition is very good. Size: 19 inches long; the main silver pendant is 6 inches long by 2 inches at the widest part. The sterling silver balls are 3/4 inches diameter. Price: $950.

WW-3: Mexican vintage gold jewelry, and Mexican antique devotional art, a truly stunning filagree gold cross on a finely woven gold chain, Mexico, early to mid-19th century. The filagree work on this gold cross is incredibly fine, and the woven gold chain is spectacular. The cross and chain are museum-quality. The chain and the ends of the cross are 14 karat, and the filagree parts of the cross are very likely 18 karat, which would be typical of Mexican gold filagree from this period. The filagree body of the cross is simply too fine to test effectively. Condition is excellent. Size: 18 1/2 inches long (with chain open and extended, including the gold clasp). The filagree cross is 2 1/2 inches high by 2 inches wide at the arms.
