Mexican Sarapes and Textiles, Huipiles and Clothing
BK-8: Mexican vintage serapes and textiles, a beautiful Tehuana skirt and huipil, or blouse, with wonderful embroidery and in the style of the women of the Isla de Tehuantepec, c. 1930's. The skirt has very fine lace-work at the bottom, and the huipil (blouse) and skirt are of satin or silk with wonderful machine-embroidered flowers. The lovely lace-work is of finely worked cotton. Condition is excellent. Size: the huipil or blouse is 21 1/2 inches high by 20 inches wide. The skirt is 39 1/2 inches long, including the lace at the bottom. The waist is 26 inches diameter and is tied with a waist-ribbon. The lace bottom is c. 250 inches in circumference, or 125 inches wide when laid flat. Price: $875.
BJ-9: Mexican vintage textiles and serapes, a beautiful woven Texcoco rug, with wonderful design elements and colors, Texcoco (a city outside of Mexico City), c. 1950's. The design elements are wonderful with Indigo blue dyed and natural white wool, dark and light brown natural wool, and beige yarns. Condition is very good. Size: 33 inches long (not including the fringes) by 26 3/4 inches wide. Price: $195.
BH-2: Mexican vintage serapes and textiles, and New Mexican vintage textiles, a very lovely woolen, pictorial runner with a beautiful burgundy background, Chimayo, New Mexico, c. 1940's. The color combination is wonderful, and the pictorial textile features geometric designs and beautiful arrows. Condition is good; the runner shows some signs of wear and slight moth-damage. Size: 62 1/4 inches long by 19 inches wide.

BC-8: Vintage Mexican and Latin American textiles, a beautiful vicuna, woven of very fine and soft wool from native llamas, with colorful embroidery integrated into the design, Peru (or Andes region), c. 1950's. The background color is natural dark brown wool, and the colorful embroidery truly "pops out"! This is a piece from a master-weaver, and it is highly collectible. Condition is very good. Size: 80 inches long by 63 1/4 inches wide. Price: $725.
BA-12: Mexican vintage textiles and Saltillo sarapes, a very lovely Saltillo sarape with a beautiful red background color and a wonderful center medallion, c. 1920's. The sarape is very finely woven of wool, with silk in the center medallion and decorative side-bars. The side-bars feature beautiful rosette designs. The fringe has been altered to fit a bed or table, with the macrome fringe now on the two sides versus the usual top and bottom, which have been expertly hemmed. This is an incredibly lovely piece of vintage Mexican weaving! Condition is very good. Size: 85 inches long by 75 inches wide, not including the fringe. Price: $1400.
BA-13: Guatemalan vintage textiles, runners, and huipiles, a two-sided embroidered runner with lovely star-designs, San Juan Zacatepecquez, c. 1950. Both sides of the textile are very finely embroidered and the design, comprised of beautiful embroidered stars, is sensational. This is an incredible Guatemalan textile, and the discerning collector's dream. Condition is very good. Size: 71 1/2 inches long by 32 1/2 inches wide. Price: $625.
AX-15: New Mexican antique and vintage textiles, a very fine Rio Grande blanket or textile, New Mexico, c. 1880. This Rio Grande textile is beautifully woven of very soft and fine wool, and the colors are vibrant and wonderful. As is typical of these early Hispanic textiles, the piece is comprised of two panels, sewn together in the center. Condition is very good, considering the age of the piece. Size: 80 inches long by 58 1/2 inches wide. Price: $1400.
AW-1: Mexican vintage textiles and Saltillo sarapes (serapes), a very beautiful post-classic Saltillo sarape with a tight weave of very fine wool, c. 1890-1900. The colors are very bright and vibrant. This is a spectacular piece for the discerning collector! Condition is very good; there is some very minor fringe-loss. Size: 86 inches long by 45 inches wide. AU-1: Mexican vintage textiles and Saltillo sarapes, a lovely wrap-around skirt with elegant embroidery, from the state of Guerrero, c. 1950's. The embroidered decorations on this skirt are incredible, featuring eagles, doves, gentle lambs, and wonderful floral decorations. The skirt is of tapestry quality and is in excellent condition. AU-5: Vintage Mexican textiles, and vintage Mexican Saltillo sarapes, a beautiful vintage textile from the state of Oaxaca, depicting the Mexican national symbol of the eagle with the snake in its mouth, Oaxaca, c. 1930's. The eagle is atop a cactus, and is surrounded by wonderful geometric designs, inspired by the stone-carvings in the pre-Hispanic ruins of Mitla, in Oaxaca. Condition is very good. Size: 65 inches long, not including fringes, by 29 1/2 inches wide. Price: $295.
AT-7: Mexican vintage textiles and sarapes, and Mexican vintage huipiles and blouses, a stunningly beautiful huipil from the village of Huautla de Jimenez in the state of Oaxaca, with very fine embroidery and vibrant colors, Oaxaca, c. 1950. This is a work of art, with fine lace and silk ribbons. Condition is very good. The huipil would look lovely worn with a broomstick skirt or long pants! Size: 39 inches long by 26 1/4 inches wide, under the openings for the arms. Price: $375.
AS-5: Mexican vintage textiles and Saltillo serapes (sarapes), a beautiful Mexican Saltillo serape (sarape), with a beautiful center medallion and wonderful rosetts in the decorative side bands. c. 1940's. The serape has a wonderful turquoise background, with silk in the center medallion and decorative side-bands with rosetts. The serape is woven of very fine wool. AS-7: Mexican vintage textiles, sarapes, and blouses and huipiles, a spectacular huipil (woman's dress) of hand-loomed cotton material with very detailed embroidery, Amusgo, from Oaxaca, c. 1950's. The piece is very finely woven, and the embroidery-work is incredible! Condition is very good. Size: 40 inches wide (side to side) by 32 inches high (top to bottom). Price: $295.
AM-13: Mexican vintage clothing, and Mexican vintage textiles and huipiles, a vintage huipil of hand-woven cotton with very fine embroidery, Zinacantan, Chiapas, c. 1960's. The fabric is extremely beautiful, and the huipil is finished with lovely tassles of synthetic yarn. Condition is very good; the huipil shows use and some minor fading, which only make the piece softer and more beautiful! Size: 22 1/2 inches wide, side to side, when laid flat, by 25 inches long, not including the fringe on the bottom. Price: $275.
AJ-17: Vintage New Mexican textiles, a lovely woolen textile from the weaving center of Chimayo, New Mexico, c. 1930's. The weaving has a beautiful and very rare purple background, with colorful Chimayo-style design elements in various wonderful colors. The piece is finely woven, and the overall condition is very good. Size: 72 1/2 inches long by 34 1/4 inches wide. Price: $285.
AB-2: Mexican vintage textiles, and Mexican vintage Saltillo serapes (sarapes), a stunning Saltillo serape with color-hues of soft-red, lilac, purple, green, and soft-yellow, c. 1910-20. The Saltillo serape is very finely woven of wool with silk in the center medallion and decorative side-bars. The center medallion features images of the Mexican flag. This is a collector's dream! Condition is excellent. The fringe at both ends is fully intact. This piece has been well cared-for and obviously highly valued. Size: 71 inches long by 38 inches wide. Price: $2400.
SS-9: Mexican vintage textiles and Saltillo sarapes, a very beautiful Saltillo sarape runner with a lovely camel and burnt-orange background and a wonderful center diamond, c. 1930's. The fringe is fully intact at both ends. The Saltillo sarape is woven of very fine wool, with silk in the center diamond and decorative side-bars. Condition is very good. Size: 71 3/4 inches long not including the lovely fringe at both ends by 30 1/2 inches wide. Price: $400.
OO-2: Mexican vintage textiles and Saltillo sarapes, a wonderful pair of matching Saltillo sarapes featuring a dashing Mexican charro (horseman) and a lovely China Poblana or charra dancing around a sombrero, c. 1940's. They are both finely woven of soft wool, and the colors are vibrant. These can be sold separately or as a pair. Condition of both is excellent. Size: each is 20 1/2 inches long by 9 1/2 inches wide. EE-17: Mexican vintage textiles and sarapes, a lovely weaving from Oaxaca, c. 1940's. The textile is beautifully woven of fine wool. It has a white background with lovely flowers in the border and a beautiful center medallion. Condition is excellent, and the fringe is completely intact. This is a great Mexican vintage textile! Size: 101 inches long (including fringe on both sides) by 50 inches wide. Price: $950.
DD-14: Mexican vintage textiles and sarapes, a Saltillo sarape with a white background and a very fine silk center-medallion and decorative side-bars, c. 1920's. Very beautifully woven with the fine fringe intact at both ends. Condition is very good given the age of the textile; there are three very small holes, probably caused by moth-damage over the years. This is an incredibly piece of vintage Mexican weaving. Size: 21 1/2 inches long by 19 1/2 inches wide. Price: $150.
W-15: Mexican vintage textiles, a Saltillo sarape, c. 1940. Beautiful burgundy background. Made of very finely woven wool with silk in the center medallion and decorative side-bars. Condition is very good; there are some very small home-done repairs. Size: 78 1/2 inches long by 35 1/4 inches wide. Fringe is intact. Price: $300.
